Sanawar Service Project – The Ethos, Purpose and the Spirit Behind Our Endeavours
‘The Art of Giving’ Holds Together the Sanawarian Lagacy
From Lawrence’s Asylum to Lawrence Royal Military School and then finally to The Lawrence School, Sanawar, in any form and name, Sanawar has always been but one soul and a profoundly care-giving soul. Giving care, love and refuge lies at the heart of our(this) cherished institution. Has it not been an asylum to the orphans of war soldiers once? Has it not given martyrs to the motherland? Is it not a home to innumerable species of flora and fauna today? Our journey into the Service World is not of years but is more than a century and half old. An institution lives and flourishes for one eighty years not because it bears the skill of receiving but because it masters the art of ‘giving’. Service was the aim behind the school’s inception one seventy nine years ago, and the ethos of the school rooted in values of service and care.
Service by Sanawar – An Unbroken Chain of Service Acts
Tree plantations, cleanliness drive, visits to seva ashrams, protection of flora and fauna and taking care of the less privileged, have been some acts of service, amongst many, that have spanned over years without a breach or break.
Even when the entire world came to a standstill due to the virus in the year 2020, the students and staff at Sanawar, true to the school motto ‘Never Give In’, unfailingly aided the community in overcoming the hurdles that COVID-19 created in the lives of its citizens and more.
